The twin-screw granulator cleaning color masterbatch is mainly manifested in the following aspects:
1.Mandatory transportation. In a twin-screw extruder with counter-rotating teeth, one extruder screw pulls the material into the tooth slot, while the other extruder screw pushes the material out from the gap. The material is transferred from one extruder screw guide to another extruder screw tube, moving in an «∞» shape, resulting in mandatory transportation toward the engine orientation.
2.Airflow delivery and stirring. In a co-rotating twin-screw extruder, the gear is smaller, and the rib edge and the speed direction of the screw guide are opposite. The relative speed is large, resulting in a high segmentation rate and high shear force in the tooth region. The mixing effect is far better than that of counter-rotating twin-screw extruders.
3.Self-cleaning. In a co-rotating twin-screw extruder, because the gear rib and the speed direction of the screw guide are opposite, the relative speed is large, resulting in a high segmentation rate. This can scrape off material adsorbed on the extruder screw, providing a good self-cleaning effect. Consequently, the material residence time is short, and partial solubilization is not likely to occur.
4.Melting of the material. The size of the extruder screw gap has a significant impact on material melt quality. The smaller the gap, the larger the shear force, but the amount of material processed is reduced. The larger the gap, the more material can be processed, but the shear force is reduced.
5.Shrinkage of the material. There are many more ways to handle small materials in co-rotating twin-screw extruders, and the overall utility is good.
6.Feeding method. In co-rotating twin-screw extruders, uniformity is required, and metered starvation feeding is used.
7.Exhaust. Because it is starvation feeding, large-pitch outer thread transport elements can be selected, allowing the screw groove to remain in a zero-burden state in the unfilled condition, enabling the exhaust section to be set.
When a twin-screw extruder produces masterbatch, it often needs to change colors. If necessary, the production area can be opened in a few minutes, and the melt section on the entire extruder screw can be observed to analyze the mixing. Currently, with ordinary twin-screw extruders, changing colors requires using a large amount of cleaning material to achieve a cleaner result, which is time-consuming, consumes power, and wastes raw materials. A split-type twin-screw extruder can solve this problem. When changing colors, the barrel can be opened in just a few minutes for manual cleaning, thus eliminating or reducing the need for cleaning materials and saving costs.
